Gathering of telecom industry players in Hong Kong, 4-8th December 2006

The upcoming ITU World Telecom 2006 is being held for the first time outside of Europe (it is usually held in Geneva, the last one organised in 2003). It has become one of the premier gathering place for telecom industry players. Being hosted by Hong Kong, China will give this World Telecom an increased Asian presence, appropriately given that Asia Pacific is the fastest growing telecommunications market.

The conference and exhibition has attracted people such as John Chamber- CEO of Cisco Systems, Sanjiv Ahuja-CEO of Orange, Mr Masao Nakamura- CEO of NTT DoCoMo, Ms Vivian Redding- member of the European Commission, Mr Richard Li- Chairman of PCCW, etc. The conference is divided into 3 main themes- Digital Lifestyle (demand side), Digital Economy (technology side) and Digital Society (regulatory and policy side). In parallel to this Forum and exhibition will also be held a Executive Level Training for regulators and policy makers co-organised with InfoDev, a Telecommunications Development Symposium for least developed countries sponsored by Cisco Systems, a Spam workshop and a Youth Forum.

There will be many new launches of products and many useful case studies shared. If not for the information, it is a great networking opportunity. I had the delight of serving on the Advisory Program Committe and will be moderating some sessions at this conference. I do hope to you mark this date and come to Hong Kong.
